Launching your brand website

Are you launching a website? Excellent! A website is a great way to engage with potential clients, supply information about your business and generate leads and sales. We have some quick tips for your new website.

What type?

If you want to sell goods online, you might want to set up an online store through Shopify. If you are looking for a service-based website, set it up on WordPress, and a simple landing page can be made through Squarespace or Wix.

Shopify is the platform for eCommerce, which makes it as simple as possible to set up a beautiful website that looks good on all devices and has the shopping functionality you need to start selling as soon as possible.

WordPress is one of the most versatile platforms that allow a multitude of design styles, service needs, and usability while keeping a user-friendly backend for you to add new content.

What’s in a name?

Now that you know what type of website you will set up, you will need a domain name. The domain name, also known as a URL, is the address users will type in to get to your website. Sadly, nine times out of ten, the domain name for your business name will probably be taken. You can use sites like GoDaddy or CrazyDomain to look up a domain name to see what’s available. If yourbusinessname.com is taken, these sites will offer you alternatives that may work, like a .net or .biz or a .com alternative.

Website on the go.

Most web traffic is done on mobiles, so your website must look good on a desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile phone. Luckily, platforms like Shopify and WordPress make it easier than ever to have a great-looking website on multiple devices simultaneously.

The amount of content will be something that you’ll want to think about before designing the page as a website with a lot of graphics and video might take too long to load on a mobile device and potentially mean that the user clicks off before the whole thing loads.

Design

A website doesn’t have to be created from a blank page. Plenty of online services are offering templates that can be used for popular platforms like Shopify and WordPress. Site builders Squarespace and Wix include templates with free and premium options for popular platforms.

Planning the colours and fonts you use is vital to ensure your website is tied to your brand. If you have a brand board document, that can be helpful or an excellent opportunity to make one so your brand has a set look for the website and any digital marketing.

Content

We love to say at Clique that “Content is king”. When it comes to your website, you can have as much or as little as you want. The most important content will be what your business does and how customers can contact you. However, many businesses take this opportunity to develop content streams for their community by sharing more about the business or tips and tricks like we do with these blogs. Know that the bigger the site means more time spent on it each month, so that should go into the planning of the site to ensure it fits with your investment of time and money.
